About The Jewelry
Diane’s jewelry is made from Precious Metal Clay (PMC). It contains fine silver particles in an organic clay binder. PMC has a pliable consistency similar to ceramic clay. In moist form it can be sculpted, shaped, and imprinted with endless design possibilities. Once fired in a kiln the clay binder melts away and the silver particles fuse together to make a solid metal piece that is .999 (99%) fine silver. It has a higher silver content than sterling silver which is .925 (92.5%) silver. PMC can be polished, brushed or finished with a patina process. Patina emphasizes the details in the piece and adds interesting colors, from golden and coppery tones to blue and grey to create a vintage look. PMC can also be plated with 14 karat or 18 karat gold or rose gold which is fused to fine silver using an electroplating process.
Like other silver, fine silver jewelry made from PMC can tarnish if not cared for properly. The less water and air fine silver is exposed to the better. Store fine silver jewelry in a dry, sealed container and polish with a silver polishing cloth to remove any tarnish.
*Pricing based on market value of silver and can vary. Pendant prices include chain costs and also vary depending on length, type, and material. Custom shapes and designs priced at the discretion of the artist. 6% Virginia sales tax will be added to purchases. All custom order sales are final.
